Sustainability

Caled Containers is a member of the APCO (Australian Packaging Covenant Organisation) and has been since 2010. As a major Tasmanian manufacturer of plastic packaging, bottles and closures for use in food and non-food applications, we support the Sustainable Packaging Design Principles of the APCO. These principles include:

  • Designing for recovery
  • Optimise Material Efficiency
  • Designing to Minimizing Litter
  • Use Recycled Materials
  • Design to Reduce Product Waste

We have actively been involved in promoting packaging recycling for many years. Recently we have stopped manufacturing packaging from PVC and HIP’s plastic. Instead we have started moulding our products from recycled PET plastic. We manufacture our products from a variety of recyclable/reuseable materials.

We are committed to maintaining strict in-house recycling policies in order to comply with the need to lessen the impact of waste materials. We endeavour to use recyclable materials wherever possible and to continue reviewing and modifying our tooling to reduce the weight and waste of manufactured products.

Caled Containers utilises solar power as a sustainable energy source. We have installed 250kw of solar panels in order to reduce energy costs. This also allows us to reduce our greenhouse gas emissions and play our part in reducing Tasmania’s reliance of fossil fuels.
